The Aquarium recently established a partnership with the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, which provided a $25,000 grant to the Aquarium Scholarship Fund in October 2014. This contribution will support Aquarium visits and interactive classroom and theater programs for 2,000 students and teachers from the Greater Los Angeles area.
On February 2, 2015, representatives from the Dodgers Foundation and former Dodgers pitcher Dennis Powell welcomed fifty-seven third graders from Norwalk at the Aquarium for a field trip supported by the grant. The students and teachers participated in the Aquarium’s Predator! classroom program, in which they learned about the feeding strategies of ocean animals such as sharks, sea lions, and sea stars. The students also engaged in hands-on discovery at touch tanks located in the Aquarium’s classrooms.
