Take a break during this winter season to visit the Aquarium’s exhibits, enjoy food and beverages during Discounted Late Nights and Shark Lagoon Nights, and learn something new about our animals. Discounted Late Nights will be held December 26 and 28-30 as well as January 2-3. Admission after 5:00 p.m. is $14.95 for adults, seniors, and children. On Shark Lagoon Nights, visit the Aquarium’s Shark Lagoon for free on Fridays. Check the Shark Lagoon Nights webpage for dates.
Visit the June Keyes Penguin Habitat to see how the young Magellanic Penguins born at the Aquarium this summer are growing and interacting with the rest of the birds. Skipper, Mattson, Jayde, and Paddles have integrated well with the juveniles born the previous year, Heidi and Anderson, as well as the adults that reside in the exhibit. Until they molt for the first time, the young foursome can be identified by their lighter grayish colored feathers and their nametags. The adult penguins are dark black and white with a double stripe across their chests.
Aquarium visitors can meet special animal ambassadors during a daily Animal Meet and Greet session held at the Molina Animal Care Center. Get up close to some of our animals, like Lola the Sulfur-Crested Cockatoo, and hear a short presentation from the animal husbandry staff to learn more. Find out where these animals live in the wild, what they eat, and how we care for them at the Aquarium. Check the insert in the Aquarium Map and Visitor Guide or the Aquarium’s app for times.
Visitors can see more than 11,000 animals at the Aquarium representing about 500 species of marine life—and many animals can be touched. Learn what makes shark skin different from fish scales by touching a cownose ray or bonnethead, epaulette, or bamboo shark in the touch pools at Shark Lagoon. Find out what a sea jelly feels like at the touch lab in the Wonders of the Deep gallery. Explore the animals of Northern Pacific tidepools like sea stars and anemones at the Coastal Corner Touch Lab next to the sea otters. And while you can’t touch the birds in Lorikeet Forest, you can feed them a cup of nectar while they land on you.
